The Changeful Map is Book One of The Healing Winds Trilogy. To the folks of Springvale Manor, the forest encircling their fields seems full of peril, but on the night of the full moon of each month, the servant girl Kathe waits at its edge for the guide who will lead her home. When an enigmatic great horned owl offers its help, she begins an astonishing journey through the ancient forest and into a past full of magic.

Sally Stout grew up in Michigan exploring the fields and woods of her family's farm and spent a great deal of time in the forests of Middle Earth and Narnia.  In writing The Changeful Map, Sally is fulfilling a long-time wish to create a fantasy world of her own.

"To me, even though fantasy contains elements of magic, it is grounded in ordinary life. Everyone feels lost at times, but ideally, all our adventures help us to grow into the people we were meant to be. The odds may seem insurmountable, but examples from real history support the lessons of fantasy - each individual is essential, a well of potential waiting to be tapped."

Sally has taught English as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga and in high school and college classrooms. She and her husband weave and bird watch in Frankfort, Michigan. This is her first novel.

The N. J. Brewer Chronicles by Douglas Cook recounts the exploits of N. J. Brewer, a loan adjustor, counselor, philosopher, gentleman of the road, and often banner carrier for the repayment challenged and economically repressed members of society he encounters on a daily basis. Working collections out of the home office of a typical small town bank, Brewer finds himself pitted against the forces of nature, and the unpredictability of the human psyche in a series of adventures that test both his values as a banker and his skills as a man of action.

Douglas Cook began his banking career wrapping loose coin in the basement of a small bank. Convincing management he was capable of handling more responsibility, he worked his way steadily through the ranks. Along the way he earned two college degrees and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga. He is currently president and CEO of a bank in Frankfort, Michigan where he lives with his wife, the author Sally Stout Cook.
